you fumbled your feelings,
mumbling some monologue as I absent mindedly ate ice cream,
outside the Ingress Park McDonald’s,
shivering and pretending to be listening.
The lonely sea was a million miles away,
but you were drowning,
damned and facing your fate,
it shined in my indifferent eyes,
and you wished with such fury that things could be different,
that I could be different,
but life is cruel,
and so am I.
