Writer and musician Jennifer Juan will release an LGBT themed poetry collection, to celebrate Pride Month and the 50th anniversary of The Stonewall Riots.
Celebrating LGBT historical figures, events of importance to the LGBT community, and the modern journeys and challenges faced by LGBT people, the collection, Virgin Vogue, will be presented as an online and downloadable poetry collection, with a selection of videos to accompany the collection, and will be available from JenniferJuan.Com from June 28th 2019.
Discussing Jennifer Juan’s work, lifestyle blogger Alanna of lifelikeagalaxygirl.com said “Jennifer is a very strong, independent, open woman and I whole heartedly respect her for it. She is very unapologetic for her thoughts and feelings and I definitely feel times when I relate to her.”
Following the release of her bestselling poetry collection, Ol’ Brown Eyes Is Back, and her second EP, Subliminals, Jennifer Juan’s latest project, the provocative but passionate, Virgin Vogue is a further expansion on the already vast catalogue of engaging and thought provoking creative projects from her.
Opening up about the project, Jennifer Juan said “I always try to do a little project during Pride Month, because it helps me to feel closer to my community, and our shared history, and it’s also a nice way of sharing something with some of the LGBT members of my audience, to let them know that they’re not alone.” Juan, who is openly LGBT, also said “At a time, in the UK, where there are protests at schools in Birmingham against inclusive education, huge amounts of hostility towards transgender and non binary people, and politicians like Ann Widdecombe endorsing conversion therapy for LGBT people, I think it’s important that there are positive messages of hope and acceptance for us to find, and that was something I really wanted to do with this project.”
A love letter, to the LGBT community, from one of it’s own, Virgin Vogue is a salute to LGBT figures who paved the way for the current generation, and an acknowledgement of the work that the community still has to do, to ensure freedom and equality for all.
Speaking about Jennifer Juan’s latest book Ol’ Brown Eyes Is Back, award winning blogger and writer Elsie LMC said “It was so beautifully written that it was hard not to have favourites popping back into my mind when I had finished it.“
Virgin Vogue will be available to read and stream online or for download, for free from JenniferJuan.com from June 28th 2019.
