If We Locked Them Away

Mothers meeting the moon,

under the watchful eyes of the stars,

a sky that no longer has to worry.

Quiet streets meet shy shoes,

growing, flourishing and flowering in the safe glow of streetlights.

A little girl loses herself,

in a joyous game of hopscotch,

hugging her little sister,

knowing they are finally safe.
