My eyes were so stuck on the soil that I didn’t see the seasons change.
The nights got lighter,
but it wasn’t until I was frozen by indecision that I found the time to see the sun in all her glory.
She stuck around until six,
silent and without judgement,
just watching my day unwind,
my mind following,
unravelling like soft, silver strings,
surrounding me, tripping me,
tired child, wrapped up in knots.
She left,
somewhere around the time I pulled myself together and pulled disaster from my bones,
and I wondered what she said to herself, as she slipped away.
